Attracting Happiness and the Rapture of Being Alive

What fills your soul with the rapture of being alive?

 

 

What is rapture anyway? The dictionaries describe rapture as the feeling of intense delight.

 

 When you feel rapturous, you are feeling bliss, happiness, ecstasy, elation, euphoria and joy.

 

 

To be rapt is to be very intent and absorbed. To be fascinated, captivated, engrossed and spellbound. It feels so good to be fully absorbed and in the flow.

 

 

You know what I'm talking about...

 

 

You've felt these intense feelings of great pleasure and happiness. Probably you have discovered yourself in many rapturous states as a result of sweet surprises. Like the rest of us, you have pursued intense delight and extreme happiness deliberately with mixed results. 

 

 

The pursuit of happiness is a documented human right.

 

 

Sex, drugs and rock and roll, meditation and spiritual ritual are all traditional paths to experiencing rapture around the world and across the ages.

 

 

We eat chocolate, pursue a goal or buy a new trinket all in the pursuit of happiness.

 

Losing 10 pounds, getting out of debt or being a better friend are really paths to what we believe will bring us happiness.

 

Whether we are instant gratification hedonists or aim to connect with the cosmic flow of creation, rapture is the result and goal of many seekers.

 

 

Here is the kicker. The less desire and resist you have attached to the outside world of stuff, the more sustainable your joy in living will become.

 

 

Connecting to bliss is available without new stuff, without meditating, without fuss.

 

 

Enjoy your life as you live it.

 

 

Awareness of and appreciation of the little things that are part of living can increase your daily joy.

 

 

Simply close your eyes and breathe. Feel the cool air sweeping up your nose and choose to feel appreciation and celebration.

 

 

Before you wolf down your next meal, smell it, appreciate its color and texture. Take the time to notice the taste and feel of your first few bites. Celebrate your good fortune to have such beautiful food to eat.

 

 

Climb in bed tonight and feel the sweet support of your mattress, the weight of your blanket and the comfort of your favorite pillow. Go to sleep counting your blessings.
